Brendan Lea

Principal, Middle and Senior School
Prior to becoming the Principal of the Middle and Senior School, Brendan was the Principal, Senior School and Vice Principal, Curriculum at BSS and the Middle Years Programme Coordinator at Toronto French School.
 
Brendan holds Master of Education (Curriculum and Pedagogy) from University of Southern Queensland, Graduate Diploma in Professional Inquiry also from Queen’s University, Graduate Diploma of Teaching (Secondary) from Australian Catholic University and Bachelor of Visual Arts from James Cook University.

Brendan entered the teaching profession in 1991 in Queensland, Australia, and after several years of teaching, he was appointed to successive leadership positions with Queensland's education authorities. After coming to Canada in 2005 and working as a teacher in the Peel District School Board, Brendan moved to Toronto French School. In 2011, he joined The Bishop Strachan School as Vice Principal, Curriculum, and was appointed Principal, Senior School in 2018.

Brendan brings a wealth of international research experience, as well as knowledge about teaching, learning and assessment in schools. He believes inquiry is at the heart of good pedagogy, that high-quality assessment design is key for student learning, and that continual teacher learning ensures a scholarly excellence for all. He has a deep commitment to the student experience and to girls’ education.
