With the extraordinary support of our community, we have reached $30.7M of our $35M goal for Intersection, the most ambitious fundraising campaign in our 150-year history. This represents just over 500 supporters who have chosen to play a vital part in honouring our proud past and building our vibrant future.
The most obvious symbol of this support is the fantastic new building that progresses toward completion every day. At the same time, there’s something less visible but highly palpable in our halls: a renewed sense of excitement and gratitude. BSS was built on philanthropy and it’s in full swing today as our students are witness to – and participants of – an unprecedented groundswell of unity. They know it goes beyond bricks and mortar; they can feel it’s about taking a stand for girls and education, and sharing for the good of community.
June 30 marks the close of Intersection and there are many ways to contribute in the next few months. We’ve collected some inspiring stories and information here that demonstrate just how passionate BSS families are about their daughters, their school and the desire to stand behind both. On behalf of all the girls and young women who benefit from your support, thank you for making BSS what it is today, and what it can become.

The Bradlow sisters – Ryann, Class of 2019 and Jaden, Class of 2021
“It means a lot to us to be a part of BSS.”
The Bradlows are one of many BSS families who have chosen to support Intersection’s Campus Fund by purchasing a Milestones medallion. More than 60% of the 203 medallions that will grace the new building’s atrium floor have been sold and we are grateful to all who have, and will, inscribe names on these beautiful brushed metal stones. For more information about medallions, please contact Cathy Marostica at email@example.com or at 416-483-4325 ext. 1872
Note: Medallions must be purchased by June 30 to be a part of September’s unveiling ceremony.
Lisa Damour, author of Untangled, speaks to BSS parents
Annual Fund inspires insights and interactions
Donors to the Annual Fund – at all levels – have an immense impact on the day-to-day experiences of students and staff. One recent example: renowned author and clinical psychologist Lisa Damour recently shared with students, faculty and parents her funny and informative insights on the development stages of teenage girls.
Greg Moore, Claire, Class of 2029 and Kyu Young Choi
“We wanted to pay it forward for future students.”
It was a hard hat tour of the BSS construction site that captured the attention of Greg Moore and Kyu Young Choi. “When you walk through the space and see for yourself the flow, the connections, the opportunities,” says Greg. “It’s quite amazing.” This walk-through inspired a generous donation to Intersection’s Campus Fund and, in recognition, BSS has named the gym viewing gallery in the family’s honour.
“A dream I held has become a reality for my grandchildren.”
Vivian Risi is proud of her daughter Julie and son-in-law John Careri for choosing BSS for her granddaughter Victoria. Currently in Grade 4, Victoria has been at BSS since Junior Kindergarten and, in that time, her family has seen the far-reaching benefits of a BSS education. Their multi-generational gift to the Campus Fund is a symbol of the family’s excitement about what the new building will mean, not just to Victoria, but the whole community.
“Don’t you wish every girl could have the BSS experience?”
A long-time supporter of financial assistance, Mary PATHY ’55 is a dedicated donor to the BSS Community Fund and to the Class of ’55 Scholarship Fund. “Not everyone can afford a school like BSS,” she says. “I want great girls to be able to attend who would otherwise not be able to do so.” Through her contributions to Intersection’s Community Fund, Mary hopes to help many girls access the culture of empowerment and lasting friendships that shaped her life.
The atrium of the new building will feature a stunning donor wall to honour Intersection supporters with cumulative gifts equalling $25,000 or more. June 30, 2017 marks the last day to make your gift to Intersection and be commemorated on the wall.
