BSS 2016-17 Speaker Series

BSS Speaker Series April 6

Provocative conversations about women, work and the world.

Since 1867, The Bishop Strachan School (BSS) has been helping girls who want to change the world become women who do. In celebration of its 150th anniversary, the school invites new ideas on an age-old theme – women’s place in business and the world.

APRIL 6, 2017  |  7:00 p.m. | BSS

Great thanks to these two accomplished social justice advocates who shared provocative and inspired thoughts on the paths that lead to the greatest public good. Introduced and moderated by BSS alums Maggie WENTE ‘94, Partner, Olthuis Kleer Townshend and Constance MARLATT ’82, Senior Counsel with the Department of Justice, the discussion was by turns riveting, poignant, painful and hopeful.

Dr. Samantha Nutt, Executive Director, War Child

Jean Teillet, Indigenous Rights Expert, Senior Counsel, Pape, Salter, Teillet (and great grand niece of Louis Riel)

Where and how can women have the most impact? Do we put our attention on global challenges or strengthen communities in Canada? Do we need to choose one over the other?

All are welcome to attend this free event, held at 298 Lonsdale Rd. Toronto

October 18, 2016

This past fall, we enjoyed Reflections Speaker Series Part I, with two fabulous speakers:

Pamela Jeffery, Founder, Women’s Executive Network
Jennifer Reynolds, President & CEO, Women in Capital Markets

Does the glass ceiling still exist? Does it matter? Should women continue to push for a spot at the boardroom table? Or do we step right over and beyond it?
