The 91st Annual Nativity
There are few traditions at BSS as time-honoured as our annual Nativity play. This year, we will be celebrating our 91st production!
The long line of girls who have stood at the front of the Chapel in this classic pantomime dates back to 1928. It is amazing to think that each year, the movements, speech and intonations have changed only very slightly over time. Watching the Nativity play is akin to looking through a portal into BSS history.
In celebration of the 91st production, we hope you enjoy this 1959 original recording of The Bishop Strachan School’s Nativity, as well as a glimpse at Nativity through the years set to the 1954 version of Silent Night.
Be sure to make space in your holiday calendar to take part in this rich BSS tradition and, of course, “rejoice with exceeding great joy.”
