Megan SHANK ’96 wins a DGA Outstanding Achievement Award
Our very own Megan SHANK ’96 was amongst the team who won the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for The Revenant.
Megan had this to share about her career, the award and her time at BSS:
“I believe I have been working for this moment for all my life. At the risk of sounding utterly dramatic here, I can’t shy away from the truth. Perhaps not when I was a child, but since becoming a young adult and finding myself at the doors of BSS where I was embraced, challenged and confronted with my true potential. It was within the walls of BSS where I was mentored and pushed to become the best I could be. I was then sent off to Western University with excitement and perseverance.
My career in film began over 15 years ago and has been nothing shy of ongoing challenge’s in everyday moments. Too many to touch on here… but hard work, determination, loyalty, and the gift of perseverance given to me so many years ago helped me tread water to get me where I am today. Working on THE REVENANT was the pinnacle of all of life’s challenges for me thus far. Unpredictable weather, constant schedule changes, and an A-list cast to name a few. Now, one year later, and in the middle of award season I am enjoying every moment of everyone’s success on the film. Having just received a DGA award myself I am reminded of how grateful I have always been for being a part of something so special. A moment in history.”
Congratulations Megan on such outstanding achievements, we are so proud of you! Look out for our upcoming BSS Connect! event in Vancouver on April 8, where Megan will be a guest speaker.
