Speaker series inspires reflection
What is the state of gender equality in the modern workplace? How much farther do women have to go before we have equality in the boardroom? Does the glass ceiling still exist? On October 18, BSS took on these questions and more at the first Reflections Speaker Series as we welcomed Pamela Jeffery, Founder, Women’s Executive Network, and Jennifer Reynolds, President & CEO, Women in Capital Markets. The discussion underlined the need to engage both women and men in order to change workplace culture and shift the unconscious biases that remain and prevent women from reaching their full potential in the workplace. If true equality is to be achieved, this cultural transformation must take place.
The speakers offered two key pieces of advice to young women looking to advance their careers. First, networking is invaluable. Start early and develop relationships with those who will advocate for you. Second, female role models are extremely important, so choose leaders that inspire you, both male and female.
