You Belong Student Summit

On February 19, BSS will host a virtual student leadership and diversity conference for Canadian independent school students in Grades 8 -12.
Inspired by the NAIS People of Color Conference, the theme of the summit is “You Belong.” The summit will feature a keynote speaker and student-led workshops on various topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion. You Belong aims to create a safe space for young people with broad and different perspectives to share, collaborate and learn from one another’s experiences. Students will build on their skills and be empowered to lead their own schools toward becoming more inclusive and diverse.

Schools are invited to send a minimum of two delegates, along with an adult chaperone. Registration is now open at youbelong.bss.on.ca. Students will also be invited to submit proposals to design and facilitate workshops on topics that relate to their school communities.

For more information, contact youbelong@bss.on.ca, or BSS YouBelong faculty advisors Rita Gravina (rgravina@bss.on.ca) or Genny Lee (glee@bss.on.ca).
