Co-Founder of Black Lives Matter Toronto to Speak at YouBelong Summit
We are thrilled to announce Sandy Hudson as the Keynote Speaker for our student-led YouBelong Summit. Hudson is a Jamaican-Canadian activist, writer and educator from Toronto. She is credited with co-founding the official Toronto branch of Black Lives Matter, helping to launch a larger presence for the movement in Canada.
Along with two others in 2017, Hudson started the Black Legal Action Centre, which provides legal support to Black Ontarians. She is the co-author of the book Until We Are Free: Reflections on Black Lives Matter in Canada, and has written for media outlets such as NOW Magazine, The Washington Post, Huffington Post, FLARE Magazine and Maclean’s Magazine. Hudson is regularly featured in Canadian media advocating for racial justice. Her extremely impressive background does not encompass the inspiring impact she’s made on not only Torontonians, but people across the globe.
