Grade 7 Student Raises Funds for Youth Homelessness

When Leah F in Grade 7 learned that she wouldn’t be able to celebrate her bat mitzvah with a traditional party, due to COVID-19, she turned what many would consider a major disappointment into a story of inspiration.
Leah encouraged her would-be guests to support a cause that she felt passionate about: youth homelessness. In total, she raised over $11,000 for Youth Without Shelter, an organization that helps youth experiencing homelessness.

“I chose YWS because there are youth out there who do not have a home and I’m a youth too. I want to help these people,” she said. “I like helping people.”
