A Close and Enriching Community at Our Boarding School for Girls

Our boarding school takes the community experience at BSS one step further. We recognize that it can be a big step to leave home and live in a new place. That’s why we do everything we can to create a welcoming and inclusive environment . BSS provides a dedicated boarding staff that includes a guidance counsellor and a school psychologist. These caring live-in staff members are available at all times to support the well-being of every student.

Living alongside their peers, our students also find the support and friendship they need from a diverse group of girls. Our boarders join one of six “families,” gathering for games, outings and special events in an atmosphere that they can call home. On the weekends, boarders can explore concerts, theatres, museums and more in the vibrant city of Toronto. On campus, they can also enjoy swimming, wellness activities, cooking classes or simply a movie with friends!

However they choose to get involved, our students find a whole new meaning to the word “community” at our boarding school for girls.

The Chance to Develop Confidence and Self-Reliance

Living away from home is not just an exciting experience, but it is also one of the most informative in a young person’s development. BSS boarding is an opportunity for our students to become more independent and self-aware. They build confidence in who they are as individuals and their ability to lead their own lives. For Grade 8 students, boarding is relatively structured and scheduled, and autonomy grows as students move through higher grades. From organizing their time to sharing a space with their peers, boarding students learn important life skills that go beyond the classroom.

Within a family community, students are encouraged to find their own voice in a variety of roles, such as Head Boarder, House Head, Family Don and Community Representative. As they take part in new activities and get to know their peers on a deeper level, they embrace a growth mindset–one that encourages them to welcome change and explore their full potential.

Additional Support for Your Academic Learning

As an extension of our all girls school, BSS boarding supports the commitment to academic excellence. Our students find a calm and supportive space free of distractions, where they can work towards their academic goals.

Every evening, boarders spend one to two hours at the Learning Commons doing homework and working on projects. They enjoy the added convenience of being close to a Study Advisor, Tutors and specialized academic workshops on campus.

In a unique setting that blends academic drive with a fun and relaxing environment, BSS boarding students reach their full potential in every area of their lives.
