PhD Student, University of Montreal and Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute (Mila)
Adriana HUGESSEN '09 is a doctoral student at the University of Montreal and the Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute (Mila), where she is advised by Professor Glen Berseth.
She received her Bachelor of Science in engineering from Princeton University in 2014 where she majored in Operations Research and Financial Engineering with a certificate in Applications of Computing. Before returning to academia, Adriana spent several years as a data scientist, working on applied machine learning projects at institutions such as Honey/PayPal, Uplight and Citi.
Her research interests lie in enabling real-world reinforcement learning including how to best incorporate offline data, learning reward and cost functions, exploration and safety. She is interested in applications of reinforcement learning that could improve our sustainable use of finite resources, including power grids, supply chains and robotics.
