Assessment

  • Does The Bishop Strachan School require the SSAT?

The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is a standardized test used by admission officers to assess the abilities of students seeking to enrol in an independent school.

BSS does not require the SSAT for students entering any grade. Applicants must complete our own school assessment. International students and other students living outside the Greater Toronto Area will be asked to complete our virtual assessment.
  • When will BSS assessments take place?

Assessment dates for JK, Grades 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 will be scheduled for December or January. We will provide more details once we receive your online application.
  • What is involved in the BSS assessment?

    Junior School
Junior and Senior Kindergarten applicants come together in small groups and spend time in our classroom, engaging in fun activities with our teachers. Applicants in Grades 1 - 6 also complete a math and English test, as well as group activities and games.

    Middle and Senior School
Assessments in the Middle and Senior School include math and literacy tests.

There is no need to prepare or study in advance for the assessment. Learn more about the assessment process.
