Poetic Voices Create Connection

During our 14th annual Poetry Reading in the Head’s Quad, the sun was shining as students and staff shared a curated selection of readings exploring themes of nature, identity, memory and belonging.
Dr. Alana Bell, Research and Learning Commons Specialist, opened the program with a piece by Mary Oliver, noting that while poetry and writing can be solitary, there is a profound emotional connection between writer and reader.

The program featured works by Juliana Spahr, J. Ruth Gendler, Emily Dickinson, Robert Browning, Robert Frost, Alden Nowlan and Ian S. Thomas, alongside powerful self-authored pieces. Thank you to all who contributed to such a memorable afternoon!
