BSS Bobcats Spring Season Round-Up

From record-breaking individual results to the growth of our youngest players, BSS athletes consistently demonstrated resilience and team spirit in track and field, softball, ultimate, tennis, rugby, golf and archery.
A heartfelt thank-you to all our coaches for the countless hours, energy and care they pour into our athletic programs every day. Their commitment to supporting, mentoring and inspiring our student-athletes has helped create an environment where girls are challenged to grow as athletes, teammates and leaders. To our parents and families, thank you for your continued support at competitions and events and for helping foster the strength, spirit and pride that makes the Bobcat experience so special.

Middle and Senior School
The Senior Track and Field Team delivered a historic championship performance, capturing the Overall Girls Championship with an incredible 333 points, nearly doubling the second place team at 177 points and surpassing last year’s outstanding 275 points. This was the senior team’s fifth consecutive championship title.

The Novice Girls claimed Overall Gold, the Junior Girls earned Overall Silver and the Senior Girls brought home Overall Gold to complete a dominant showing across all divisions. Eighteen athletes across 30 total events, alongside five relay teams (including the first-ever co-ed 4x400 team with St. Michael’s College School), advanced to the Metro Championships. One of the most impressive accomplishments was the depth of the program, with 30 different athletes contributing points through Top 8 finishes, alongside nine CISAA gold medals and 29 total podium finishes.

The U14 Track and Field Team also delivered several outstanding performances at the CISAA Championships, including seven Top 3 finishes. The U13 4x100 m relay team earned a silver medal, the U14 4x100 relay team finished an impressive fourth overall, and Aella B ’31 captured gold in both the 800 m and 1500 m events.

Beyond the track, BSS proudly celebrated CISAA Championship gold medals in Junior tennis, U14 tennis and U14 ultimate, highlighting exceptional talent, teamwork and competitiveness across multiple programs. The Senior and Junior Ultimate, Junior and Senior Rugby and U14 Softball Teams also demonstrated tremendous growth, resilience and commitment throughout the season. Although these teams did not qualify for the playoffs, they competed with outstanding spirit, determination and sportsmanship that reflected the very best of BSS Athletics.

The Senior Tennis, U14 Tennis and Golf Teams each earned impressive third place finishes at the CISAA Championships.

The Junior Softball Team captured a CISAA gold medal in an exciting championship final against Havergal. The Senior Softball team battled hard in a thrilling final, narrowly falling 9-8 to earn a well-deserved silver medal in a highly competitive league.

Lastly, the Archery Team competed in the Great Lakes Archery Invitational tournament to wrap up an exciting season. Archery continues to be an excellent opportunity for students to try a new sport and participate in an activity from October to May.

Junior School
Last week, the U12 Track and Field Team wrapped up their season at the CISA Championships at York University. It was a long and hot day, but our athletes persevered to produce some great performances.
  • In Grade 4, nine athletes in six different events placed in the Top 8 overall. Yeowon K ’34 placed first in the 80m hurdles, and the U10 relay team placed first overall.
  • In Grade 5, eight athletes in six different events placed in the Top 8 overall. Congratulations to Charley W ’33, who placed first in discus and set a new CISAA record with her throw of 26.32 m.
  • In Grade 6, aight 8 athletes in aight different events placed in the Top 8 overall. Logann S-L ’32 had two amazing performances in the 100m and 200m dash, placed first overall in both events.
  • Another highlight was high jump, where seven athletes across Grades 4 to 7 placed in the Top 6 in their age group. A BSS athlete placed first in every grade: Poppy P ’34 in Grade 4, Penny R ’33 in Grade 5 and Alexa W ’32 in Grade 6.
  • Tallying up the scores from Grades 4 - 8, BSS placed second overall at the CISAA Championships. Congratulations to all the athletes for their hard work all season long!
The U12 softball season has officially wrapped up, and we’re incredibly proud of our players’ hard work, skill development and positive team spirit through all kinds of weather. We won some, we lost some, but we never gave up! Each game, each play was a learning experience. A huge thank-you to the Senior School student coaches for volunteering their time, sharing their expertise and providing exceptional leadership and inspiration to our younger athletes. We’re also deeply grateful to our fantastic parents for your dedicated cheering and logistical support during early morning practices and late game days.

The U12 Ultimate Team had an incredible season. Competing as a small but mighty squad of 12 in a co-ed league, our athletes made massive strides forward from last year, showing up with positive energy and a competitive spirit in every game across three mini tournaments. Because ultimate frisbee is self-officiated, our players faced a steep learning curve, but they rose to the challenge beautifully. By keeping the “spirit of the game” in mind, they grew into confident leaders on the field, mastering both the rules of the sport and the art of fair play.
