Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging

At The Bishop Strachan School, we foster a caring community that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB).

BSS Diversity Statement

The Bishop Strachan School was founded in 1867 with the goal of providing innovative and rigorous education for girls, reflecting ethical, social, and moral values. Today, the School embraces the imperative to build on this legacy by making exceptional education accessible regardless of historical or systemic barriers. We work unceasingly towards being an inclusive girls’ school that celebrates the unique voices of all individuals. Together, we cultivate a community that creates a sense of belonging for all.

Land Acknowledgment

Together, we acknowledge the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, on whose ancient and sacred land we live, work, and play. As a community, we recognize the ever-present systemic inequities that stem directly from our past wrongdoings, and we commit ourselves indefinitely to respecting and reconciling this long history of injustice.
