Dear BSS community,
The Board of Governors is very pleased to announce the appointment of Meagan Enticknap as our next Head of School, effective July 2, 2026.
Our community consultation emphasized the importance of finding a leader with a deep commitment to advancing female leadership, a global perspective on excellence in education and a strong appreciation for the role of community. Guided by this input, we launched a comprehensive search to find someone who embodied these qualities and brought both a track record of leadership and a clear educational vision.
The search attracted significant interest from impressive candidates around the world and this is a testament to the school’s global standing. Meagan emerged as an inspiring leader with a passion for academics, clear alignment with our values and authentic care for students, alumnae, faculty and staff.
Since joining BSS as Deputy Head last year, Meagan has built strong connections by joining students for breakfast in the Boarders Dining Room, asking thoughtful questions and offering enthusiastic encouragement at student events. Leveraging a deep understanding of different educational approaches and a data-driven lens to decision-making, she has already brought forward innovative initiatives that will enhance and elevate student learning. She has also worked with our Dean of Student Leadership to provide more mentorship opportunities, leadership training and platforms for student voice.
“My vision is for BSS to continue excelling as a global innovator in education — where every girl feels seen, supported and empowered to lead. I am committed to nurturing bold ideas, honouring our beliefs and values and shaping a future where girls lead with purpose, confidence and compassion.”
With extensive experience in both Canadian and international schools, Meagan brings a global perspective and a keen understanding of what makes BSS special. Her previous roles include Deputy Head of School at Elmwood School in Ottawa, Director of Academics and Innovation at the United Nations International School in Hanoi, Course Facilitator at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) and Lead Educator for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization. She has led innovative teaching and learning initiatives and developed impactful professional development programs for faculty across a wide range of settings, all grounded in a collaborative, future-focused approach.
Meagan will succeed Dr. Angela Terpstra as Head of School, building on a legacy of strong leadership. She will have the opportunity to continue to learn from Angela through the 2025-26 school year, and will assume her new role on July 2, 2026. Meagan’s transition into this role represents continuity of leadership at BSS while also ushering in new opportunities for growth as we relentlessly pursue our mission.
The Board of Governors extends a sincere thank you to the community for your participation in the search process. Your feedback helped shape the Head of School position profile and informed the committee’s work. We would like to express our deep appreciation to the members of the Head of School Search Committee for their time and dedication, and to Odgers Berndtson, our executive search firm, for their professional guidance throughout this process.
We are thrilled to have found a leader who will build on the school’s legacy of educating fearless female leaders.
Sincerely,
Devon KIRK ’01
Chair, Board of Governors
