A Legacy of Leadership

After 20 years of bold and compassionate leadership, Angela Terpstra has announced her retirement at the conclusion of this academic year.
Angela’s tenure has been marked by transformative achievements, including garnering record numbers of students applications; positioning BSS as a leader in financial assistance; opening Ontario’s first turf field at a girls’ school; securing a landmark $6.1 million gift to launch the Lang Scholar leadership program; and commissioning a nationally significant stained glass artwork honouring Indigenous voices.

Another pivotal moment was the creation of the Culture of Powerful Learning, in partnership with Patti McDonald, and the subsequent development of the Signature of a BSS Girl. This ambitious academic vision coupled with a research-based unifying set of qualities became the foundation for helping students become fearless leaders.

Over the coming months, we will be hosting events to celebrate Angela’s legacy. We invite you to be part of this celebration, so check back for more information.

Make A Gift

In celebration of Angela's retirement a fund has been established to honour her legacy. The Dr. Angela Terpstra Tribute Fund represents recognition of Angela’s role as Head of School at BSS, and her exceptional 21 years of service to the school. Angela is passionate about our mission to educate girls to be leaders and this fund will elevate this mission as we continue to address the need for female leaders who are inspired to create positive change.
