Announcing the New Chair of the BSS Board of Governors
We are pleased to share that Sarah MCLACHLIN Atkins ’89 has been elected as Chair of The Bishop Strachan School Board of Governors, effective October 1, 2025.
Sarah joined the Board of Governors in 2022 and has been an active member since then, serving on the Human Resources Committee, as Chair of the Strategy Committee and as Vice Chair of the Board. Sarah graduated from BSS in 1989, is the proud parent of a BSS graduate, and comes from a long legacy of BSS girls and women.
Sarah brings an impressive and varied background to the role, and has built a reputation as a dynamic leader of high-performing teams across global, North American and Canadian organizations. As a business leader and strategist for some of the world’s most iconic brands, she has led digital transformations, organizational restructurings and phases of rapid growth. This includes serving as Territory CMO for North America at Nike where, amongst other accomplishments, she reset the strategy for girls, successfully increasing sport participation and accessibility across Canada and the U.S.
Sarah is currently a co-founder and principal of Lighthouse Strategy, which helps brands supercharge their investment in female sport. Sarah received a B.A. from Western University, and has both an ESG designation in Corporate Boards, and a designation from Women Get On Board.
Jon Mackey and Susan Cayne have also been elected to the Board of Governors. Jon is a current parent and founder of a leadership advisory firm that works with investors, founders, family offices and private companies in both advisory and operating roles. Susan is an Executive and Leadership Coach who works with senior leaders across a variety of organizations worldwide. She is also a current BSS parent.
Reverend Don Beyers is joining the BSS Board in an ex-officio capacity, as representative from the Bishop of Toronto. He is currently serving as Priest-in-Charge at Grace Church on-the-Hill.
As we begin a new chapter at BSS, we thank Devon KIRK ’01 for her dedicated leadership as Chair over the past three years.
