We are pleased to announce that Liz Watt has been hired as the new Principal of the Junior School, beginning in July 2026.
Liz comes to BSS with an extensive background and proven track record as both an exceptional educator and as a collaborative leader.
Most recently, she spent eight years at Havergal College as Assistant Head of the Junior School, where she oversaw day-to-day operations, created compelling student life programming, developed meaningful experiences through community partnerships, and supported student well-being. Her commitment to nurturing students is long-standing, honed through previous teaching roles at St. Clement’s School, Bessborough Junior School and Sunnylea Junior School. In every setting, from classrooms to co-curricular activities, Liz has dedicated herself to equipping students with knowledge, skills and a curiosity about the world, while purposefully nurturing their diverse interests.
As a leader, Liz fosters meaningful, collaborative relationships with students, families, colleagues and the broader community. She prioritizes open communication and a commitment to a shared purpose, effectively building the trust and sense of belonging that create a dynamic learning environment. Liz models the behaviours she wants to see in her students and her teams: leading with learning, taking thoughtful risks and embracing innovation. This style ensures her teams and her students feel supported to approach any challenge with curiosity and creativity.
Our mission to educate female leaders resonates deeply with Liz. As an alumna of Branksome Hall and a former teacher at St. Clement’s School and Havergal College, she has experienced the transformative power of an all-girls education. She believes that academic excellence and rich co-curricular experiences can build confidence and help students find their voice.
We look forward to welcoming Liz to BSS, and she is delighted to be joining us.
