In December 2025, Megan DOHERTY ’00 was appointed by the United Nations as Washington Director for UNOPS, an innovative UN agency that delivers practical solutions to complex global challenges.
The appointment marks a significant milestone in a career devoted to international service that began at BSS. Megan first discovered her passion for global affairs as a student participating in Model United Nations (MUN), an experience she credits with shaping her professional path. After graduating, she worked extensively across the Middle East and North Africa before becoming a diplomat, with service in the White House, the U.S. State Department and the National Security Council. Her commitment to international cooperation brought her back to BSS a few years ago, when she returned as a keynote speaker at MUN. Entering UN headquarters through the staff entrance for the first time, Megan reflected on her days at BSS and how thrilled her high school self would have been to see where that early interest would lead.
