Margaret produced several seminal works of scholarship, including Masterminding Nature: The Breeding of Animals and Horses in Society: A Story of Animal Breeding and Marketing Culture, 1800-1920, that have influenced academics across the globe. “I follow my curiosities. I love research and I love learning, so it’s been very rewarding.” -

“Walking through the front doors of BSS always invoked a sense of warmth and comfort. My experiences at BSS helped me to find my courage and build upon my leadership skills. It was a privilege to grow in a space with endless opportunities and support, which is why I stay connected with the BSS alumnae community. I find it inspiring to hear the amazing things other alumnae are up to, knowing we used to walk through the same front doors. Hopefully, one day my story will inspire a young BSS alumna.”

The Distinguished Old Girl Award (DOGA) is presented to an alumna who has made a difference in the lives of others by giving back to the community, contributing a great deal to her profession, or showing tremendous leadership.
