CIS Ontario CITE Conference

At this time, the pandemic directions from the government and public health continue to evolve. CIS Ontario has officially cancelled all of its events up to mid-April; however, we believe we need to cancel events up to the end of April now.
If you registered to attend the CITE conference you are advised that it has now been cancelled. If you booked accommodation you are advised to contact the venue and cancel your hotel reservation. CIS Ontario will reach out later in the Spring to solicit your feedback as to when we may be able to revisit hosting this event and/or moving it to an online format.

The CIS Ontario Conference of Independent Teachers of English (CITE) is a professional association that supports the teaching and learning of English, Media Studies and Drama at member schools, through an annual conference, the publication of INCITE (an anthology of student writing and visual art), the facilitation of English curriculum leaders meetings, and social and professional networks for literacy teachers.

BSS is pleased to host this year’s CIS Ontario CITE conference, 20/20 Vision: Seeing From All The Angles

Date: Saturday, April 18
Location: The Bishop Strachan School

The many visions and stories that we encounter throughout our lives inform not only our own identities but also the bigger picture of an increasingly global and diverse society. There is power in being able to see different angles, different stories, and different visions of the world. We teach our students not only about the power of story but also the power of many stories.

Join other English, ESL and ELL teachers at this annual gathering and sharpen your 20/20 vision for the 21st century.

Keynote Speaker: Lee Maracle, “Inclusion and the power of story: Who is including who?”
Ms. Maracle is an award-winning Sto:Loh author, teacher, lifelong political activist and expert on First Nations culture and history. Her books include I Am Woman, My Conversations with Canadians and Ravensong. She was named to the Order of Canada in 2018.
