As wonderful as the holiday season can be, it is also a difficult time for children and families affected by poverty. It is a BSS tradition to come together to support others in need living in neighbouring areas of Toronto.
This year, students across all grades will partner with the organization Heart to Hand to bring "holiday love" to local children by creating pajama and book gift bundles for other kids in our city. Heart to Hand is a grassroots initiative that started over 20 years ago and partners with the Children’s Aid Society (CAS), Catholic Children’s Aid Society (CCAS) and Ernestine Women’s Shelter for this program. The tangible act of giving and the notion of kids caring for other kids in our community made a great impact on the students who participated last year, and we look forward to expanding this initiative schoolwide.
