Lynda Watters

Principal, Junior School
Prior to coming to BSS, Lynda had extensive experience in the Toronto District School Board as a teacher, Assistant Program Coordinator for Experiential Learning, Vice Principal and finally, Principal at John Ross Robertson Junior Public School. In this role, Lynda initiated collaboration with leadership teams at Glenview Middle School and Lawrence Park Collegiate to establish strong K-12 Academic Pathways.

As Vice Principal at Fraser Mustard Early Learning Academy (a unique TDSB environment designed upon Reggio principles and serving JK and SK with 23 Kindergarten classes in a high priority neighbourhood), Lynda initiated professional learning plans to create developmentally appropriate learning environments that encourage student voice and engagement. She also introduced a learning partnership with TDSB Equity coaches.

Lynda is an innovative leader who builds connections that strengthen community while always putting her students' interests and successes first. She builds and nurtures relationships with students, families and staff by spending time in the classroom, partnering with the parent association and customizing faculty engagement opportunities to their skillsets and interests. The outcome is a vibrant school community where students feel a strong sense of belonging so they can reach their full potential.

Lynda is passionate about empowering students to become leaders. From her support of faculty to deliver exceptional teaching and learning, to her commitment to creating access and opening up opportunities for students, her diverse experience is aligned with the goals of the Strategic Plan.
