Bobcats in Action

From our youngest students discovering the joy of movement to our elite competitors preparing for post-secondary play, the winter has been a season of grit, growth and achievement.
Winter Athletics Highlights
In the Junior School, athletics is about exploration and uncovering personal strengths. Our Grade 1 - 4 multisport rotations during Community Time allow students to build the fundamental skills and confidence needed for a lifelong love of sport. By trying a variety of activities, students are learning that every Bobcat has a unique set of skills waiting to be discovered.

As we wrap up the winter season, our Middle and Senior School athletes have shown incredible dedication. From the precision of archery and the endurance of swimming to the fast-paced action of volleyball, badminton and hockey, students are pushing their limits. Our alpine skiing teams have been carving up the slopes, and in our Junior School, the "learn-to-race" programs for skiing and hockey are thriving. With championship season just beginning, the energy is palpable. Go Bobcats!

Lang Scholar Program: Leading with Purpose
Made possible by the unprecedented $6.1 million gift from philanthropist and athlete Stu Lang, this inaugural program is already transforming the lives of 13 exceptional student-athletes. This year, the Lang Scholars have moved beyond the playing field to dive deep into leadership development with a two-day intensive retreat focused on behavioral strength assessments, "Lunch & Learn" sessions and mentorship events with alumnae, and collaborations with University of Guelph graduate students on advanced leadership modules. The cohort is now transitioning into the design phase of a $10,000 community-impact project under the guidance of philanthropic experts from Campfire Circle.

High Performance Athlete Program: Elite Support
For those students pursuing elite-level sport outside of school hours, our High Performance Athlete (HPA) Program provides an important support system. This donor-funded initiative ensures that our most dedicated competitors don’t have to choose between their sport and their studies. This year, HPA participants have benefited from specialized workshops in nutrition and performance with industry experts, onsite physiotherapy, and ongoing, flexible scheduling.

“This year has been very busy with different matches and training in preparation for OFSAA. What’s made this manageable is the variety of support available in the High Performance Athlete Program,” says Grade 11 student Betsy, who competes in soccer and track at the provincial and national level. “I’ve recently been working with our nutritionist to refine my diet, specifically focusing on protein for muscle recovery. It’s those small details and the flexibility of my teachers that have allowed me to excel.”
