How Our All-Girls School Prepares Students for Post-Secondary

A positive learning experience is focused on exploration and discovery. At The Bishop Strachan School, students become active participants in their learning journey and are encouraged to follow their interests and curiosity. Learning is designed to prepare them for success, giving them the knowledge and skills they need to start university with confidence.
Through hands-on experiences, we engage our students and challenge them at just the right level. By focusing on research and self-discovery, we help our students build important skills that lead to academic and personal growth. Our students graduate to become independent learners who are ready to succeed at some of the top universities in the world.

Developing Skills to Excel at University

Across all grades, our students are encouraged to challenge themselves academically. This gives them the chance to study different subjects and develop important skills. As early as Middle School, students are able to build their critical thinking skills, as well as learn how to research and communicate effectively.

While attending our high school for girls, students hone important skills like learning how to research, collaborate and overcome challenges. Here, they are able to ask big questions, explore new tools and materials, and problem solve, all while studying subjects that interest and challenge them. These essential skills give BSS students a valuable academic advantage on their post-secondary paths.

Exploring Advanced Courses at Our All-Girls School

The Senior School program at BSS gives students the chance to explore over 100 credit courses, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses, as well as a wide range of electives that cover subjects in business, technology, visual and media arts, and more. Through this variety of courses, students develop advanced subject-specific skills for university.

At our all-girls school, students can choose from 14 different AP courses that allow them to study university-level materials during high school. Our students have also earned high results in their AP courses, going beyond the international average scores. Their hard work and excellent results prove that they are ready and able to succeed at some of the best universities in the world.

Preparing Our Graduates for Bright Futures

BSS is dedicated to helping students thrive during and after high school. Through our advanced curriculum, students can create an impressive college or university admissions resume that showcases their unique skills, hard work, and diverse interests.

Our graduates go on to pursue interesting and exciting futures in broad fields, ranging from engineering and medicine to interactive media and game design. The graduating class of 2021 earned acceptance to leading universities across Canada, the U.S. and the world, including McGill, the University of Toronto, Boston University, Harvard, Tufts and the University of California, to name a few.
