Leading the Way for Women

On March 5, students and staff gathered for our annual Girls’ March to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Started in 2017 by then-Grade 6 student Halle J, the Girls’ March embodies our commitment to inspiring inclusion and amplifying the voices of girls and women in our community. Inspired by a classroom project in Grade 5, Halle’s vision of a demonstration in solidarity with the Women’s March expanded over the years to include all grades across the school. As she prepares to graduate this year, Halle hopes the tradition will continue. “The Girls’ March helped me see how much of a leader I can actually be,” she said. “I hope everyone continues to get excited each year because it enriches our community for the better.”

After taking to the streets of the local neighbourhood, students gathered back at the school to hear from inspirational speakers, including the student Women's Empowerment Council, the Global Awareness Council and local MPP Dr. Jill Andrews.
