Community Fund in Action

Never set limits on yourself regardless of any odds that may be against you. If you have a dream, go chase it — work hard and enjoy every moment of the journey you chose to pursue.” – Kaitlin Tse

Recent BSS alumna Kaitlin TSE ’15, a former member of Canada’s National Women’s U18 Hockey Team, is currently in her first year at Harvard. Kaitlin is tremendously grateful for the financial support she received through the Community Fund. We sat down with Kaitlin to learn more.

What do you like best about BSS?
I like how my teachers were very understanding of my goals as an academic-focused student, elite athlete and violinist. For me, it’s important to find a happy medium in which they could help me excel in all areas. I find that when I’m excelling in the classroom it is easier to excel in my athletics while continuing to play violin on the side.

A note of thanksHow did your time at BSS prepare you for what you are doing now?
What comes to mind is time management. Travelling a lot with hockey and having a academic course load you need this skill to be successful and BSS has prepared me for these situations.

As a student scholar, would you like to share a message with the community who have supported you?
Other than the obvious message of great thanks to the donors who support Financial Assistance through the Community Fund, my message would be to never set limits on yourself regardless of any odds that may be against you. If you have a dream, go chase it — work hard and enjoy every moment of the journey you chose to pursue.

Above right: A note of thanks from an anonymous student.
